We are four of the rockstar students in Miss Phillips' and Ms. McComas' class this year. We took these pictures on our iPads for a Wordless Wednesday post. This is our Wordless Wednesday. We're learning about HEAT and we found a frog.

We've learned so much about the Rocky and Appalachian Mountain regions over the last few weeks. Here are some ShowMe presentations about these regions. We are working hard on using technology to share our learning. Since we are learning about weathering and erosion, we have spent a lot of time outside exploring where erosion is very obvious. We used our iPads to capture pictures of the weathering and erosion, then used ShowMe to narrate our videos. Check them out... O. A. weathering and erosionT.C. lots of erosionD.B. Edible Scare Crows by Jayden Hay you! Do you know how to make a delicious edible scarecrow? If you do follow me! First, get 1 sugar cookie and put it on a plate. Get 7 chocolate chips and use 2 for the eyes and 5 for the mouth. Last, EAT IT!!! Edible Scarecrows by Amy Hello! I am Amy and today I am going to make scarecrow cookies. First we get a sugar cookie. Next you get creamy frosting and spread it on the sugar cookie. Then you get a sugar wafer and put it on top of the sugar cookie for a hat. And also half a sugar wafer and some frosting and put it on top of the other sugar wafer. Thats the top part of the hat. After that you will get 3 Twizzlers and put it in the middle so it can look like hair. Meanwhile, you get a candy corn and put it on the sugar cookie. Last but not least, ad chocolate chips for the eyes and mouth. If you want to eat it you can! Yum! Hooking the Reader: Have you ever made a cooky skarecrow? If you haven't I will show you. (J. R.) Hey! You like cookies? Multipul step cookies? Scare crow cookies? Well follow me! (M.P) WOW! Here are the steps for making a yummy and delicious scarecrow cookie! (T.C.) One digital resource we use a lot in math is ShowMe! With this app, students can explain how they solve a variety of math problems and can record it as a movie. Here are some of the first movies... the students are explaining several addition strategies we are learning. Did you know magnets are attracked to iron? In science we are learning about magnets. We learned that magnets can attract or repel. North poles attract south poles and north poles repel north poles. Two of the same poles repel. We had to build magnet magic tricks to show our learning about magnets. Magnets are not really magic but some kids think they are because they attract or repel. I will put in the pictures of our magnet magic tricks.
Have you ever seen a fossil that looks like a ice cube with a small bug or animal inside? It might be a amber fossil. For amber fossils the bug flies into tree sap and gets stuck. Over a very very very long time the sap gets hard and keeps the bug the same. We can learn about these bugs by looking at the amber fossils. Amber fossils are
Dear Kids,
Did you know that your opinion is not a right or wrong answer? You might be friends with somebody who likes cats and you like dogs. Well, there is no need to be mad because you have different opinions. We are learning about writing our opinions in writers workshop. From, K My First Week At Sci-Tech (super summer)
My first week at Sci-Tech super summer is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s at Hollydale elementary school. We started a garden, were learning about air pollution and how to fight it, we’re also using technology, which is awesome!!!!!!!! Plus my friend from my baseball team is there. Super summer is well, super. Have you ever made a garden? Have you ever learned about air pollution? Have you ever played with lots of technology? If you said no to any of these come to Sci-Tech super summer. Did you know that science is all around us? In our class we look at the science around us all the time. This week, we have gotten to have picnics outside. On our picnics we have found lots of science. For example, we sat under a pine tree outside. We learned that pine trees grow in the Piedmont region of Georgia. We also saw an oak tree, another tree in the Piedmont region. We saw tadpoles in the stream that runs near the picnic tables. The stream is their habitat and if we mess with that stream, we might destroy their habitat. Good science students do not mess with animal's homes! On the days that it was hot, we sat in the shade. The people that had on white shirts were happy because white does not absorb as much heat as black. They stayed cooler than the kids in dark shirts. I hope we have more picnics so we can see more science in action. Here are the pictures from our picnic. I hope you enjoyed reading my writing. Stay tuned for more.
